The iPad is essentially a big iPod Touch (with optional 3G), because its bigger it does certian things a lot better than an iPod or iPhone can do. The iPad, iPhone, and iPod are each for a slightly different market; you can’t go for a jog listening to your iPad for example! iPad shouldn’t be underestimated though – it is very popular and has a lot going for it!
So why should you get an iPad?
We will set out to answer that question in the following sections; The Internet, iPad as a business tool, Cool(er) iPad Apps, iPad games, and iPad accessories.
The internet.
The iPad is pretty good at viewing web pages, the only downside is there is no flash so you can’t play online flash games or view some content on some websites. That said there are some great games for the iPad for free! If you want an idea of what the sites you visit regularly would be like without flash: install flash block for Chrome or Firefox.
Browsing the internet is very intuitive, even if you have never used a touch device using the iPad comes as second nature, the double tap to zoom in on a paragraph of text or picture is very useful!
iPad as a business tool
Are you on the road or meeting clients a lot? Is part of your job to make presentations? Do you need all your info to hand?
iPad could be the perfect solution for you!
There are various solutions available on iPad to manage your clients, and to have all that data to hand where ever you are! Imagine going to the clients premises and being confronted with a problem that has just cropped up, would you rather be endlessly phoning the office to get it sorted, or call up all the information on the iPad and get a resolution to the client in a faster and more professional way? Which of the apps you use depends on what software your company runs.

Cool iPad apps
The best apps for you greatly depend on what your interests are, but I have put together some of my favourites;
- IMDb – This is a great app if you love film. You can check out all the latest releases, as well as user and critic reviews, and view lots of trailers and tv spots for the film (even classic films). This is great as the website could have problems due to lack of flash on iPad.
- Talking Larry the Bird – Larry whistles to what you play on the keyboard or repeats what you say; its very funny!
- Get yourself organised with Things for iPad - We all lead busy lives these days, this app helps you to make the most of your time by keeping you informed of the things you have to get done for: moving home; reminding you about birthdays; keeping your fitness goals; organising your school, college, university, or work deadlines; you could even use it for business projects! Get organised – get things.
- Etch a sketch for iPad – great fun!
- FlickStacker – A great app for browsing, uploading and editing images on flickr
iPad games
- GTA Chinatown Wars – the graphics are fantastic on this iPad version of GTA.
- PacMan – Classic game which is perfect for those moments when you have some time to fill!
- Worms 2 Armageddon – The best selling strategy blast-a-thon. This version has new weapons, new customisation, and of course more explosions!
- Power Snooker - If you love snooker you’ll love this app!
- Angry Birds HD - You have to try it – very addictive!
